I have played for 6 months and the most money I have had at one time is 350K (currently about 60K or so) and that was before Factions. I spent a ton of cash on Cap sigs and skills in Factions.
Gold in GW is overrated and stockpiling gold is useless, it doesn't gain interest. I farm for gold only when I need it (i.e. new armor or skills) and then. I was lucky and got into a good guild, who have shown me a lot, so I can get gold at about 10K - 30K per hour, depending on how lazy I feel (lazy = easy farming area and less gold| not lazy = hard farming area and more gold).

I only have one character with 15K armor and when I am ready, will get another set. For now, max armor for 1.5K works just fine.

I gave up on perfect gold as I always seem to be off. My closest was a Jade longbow, which was req. 8 15^50, 20/20 sundering and 20% enchant...I gave that away as I use greens on my characters (farmed or traded). They greens are farmed more easily and you just have to pick the right boss to get the stats you want.

I have about 40 ecto and 10 shards. I don't farm UW or FoW, I play them for fun (trapping UW FTW), usually with guildies.

Lets see, I started GW Oct '05 and I have only seen 1 sup vig and 1 sup absorb rune and I have yet to see a perfect gold anything drop for my characters. It has been so long since I've seen a black dye drop I don't think they make them any more and I have never had more than 80k at one time in my account.

Admittadly I have only been to UW/FOW/Toombs/Urgoz maybe a dozen times, all total, and out of that only 2 ecto's and 0 shards, may have more if I went more but rage quiters ruin everything. I stoped buying keys a long time ago because the return on that investment was worse than pathetic, even on the double drop weekend.

Points 2 and 3 I can understand however, point 1 I don't. How can you have never had more than 10k in your account? Now if you mean that at the time of your post you have 10k or less because you just spent a boat load, that I understand.

before factions I had 300k gold, invested into superior absorption runes (my fault), the droprate has been increased and the rune became worthless, I got pissed, figured out how the nazi antifarm code works, unflagged myself and farmed 1,5 millions gold(without using bots or stuff like that), now I'm laughing at people who say "there is no proof for anti farm code"

Since June of 05.

Not signed.

Plenty of cash, FoW, and have some weird obsession with getting as many of the materials in my storage up to 250 that I can.

Farming is easy and you can make a fortune in-game in a few weeks spending an hour or so a day farming in different areas.

I played since april 2005.
I just play through the game and then pvp, so Ive used what little scavanging and a few good finds to buy my primary ranger all the prophesies 15k armor.
Afer realizing after a while that I only use druids, I dont buy crap.
I sold 2 minis and got 100k... richest Ive ever been all at once.

Ive 100k
I carry collectors weapons
I got 4 sets of 15k for my ranger (none of which I wear, I wear 1.5k krytan druids)

pretty pathetic
but then, i dont like to farm or chat window for buy/sell so I win out on not having to do that bs.
its a trade off

#1/not signed well, i can sign it,

I can make 10k easily i'm just lazy, i only get cash when i need it

#2/not signed i own a req 8 fellblade 15% enchanted (close to perfect, +30 health vampiric of course) and a req 8 gothic blade 15% -10, they're so hot

#3/Not signed, my warrior has 2 sets of 15k my ranger has one and my necro has a set, (all dyed black :x) they're so cool looking and actually are the sets that look nice black

although i'm not one of the "poorer" people in the game, i'm still defintly not the rich ones... but i love the game, and after playing numerous other MMo's i still come back ot this one, and i'm going to keep playing it until they make warriors obsolete

oh yeh, havn't been playing for 1 year, but i'm at 9 months and i've played for over 2k hours, i'm sure that counts for close to 1 year of playing :P

I have the same farming problems the OP has, gold drops are extremely rare for me. My main income has emerged in selling MiniPets and Amulets, I've played for 14 months.

/signed on #1, I'm poor now, most I've ever had at one time is 82k.

I've got 3 full sets of 15k, 1 near-perfect Healing Staff and 15%/-5 Jade Daggers.

i love how this has turned into an economic status-bragging thread.
im not going to post mine, since im sure most guru regulars know where i stand on that...
but seriously guys, if some of you are wealthy, donate to the poorer members. no, i dont mean handing it out to random people in ascalon, but if on the way of your travels in GW you find people who are really having a hard time struggling financially (not beggging) help them along. countless times ive seen the same person for hours in different channels try to sell some low-grade item so he can help pitch in money for his guild's sigil, or whatever the case may be. countless times ive seen someone wielding a non-max weapon and helped them a long, and every now and then i make my more public guru contests. i wouldnt not suggest that anyone just give out money to random people, for one, chances are they wont be grateful and seccondly, theres a good chance its just a low lvl character from someone who is already well off, and doesnt need the money anyway. its amazing how much 1-5k will be appreciated by some, and for some others, its a grain of salt added to an ocean.
my point is this; if you have enough money to brag about, you have enough money to donate with, and not just your friends either (in fact strangers often appreciate it more).

Started playing January BWE and have played ever since, but I did have a hiatus from September 05 to March 06, so thats like 6 months off?
1. Had around 120k, but it's down to 40k atm.. I'm just lazy
2. I do have perfect weapons.
3. And no, I do not have FoW armor--I don't have the time to invest in the materials needed for it. I have 2 sets of 15k on my warrior and 1 set each on my ranger and necro.

ill sign for #3 but its just because i havent found one i actually like for the characters i play. and im too busy with my rl to want to farm that much.

and even though sometimes i barely have 10 plat to rub together if i need money for something it really doesnt take long. with the new materials storage i try to keep over 100 of each common and the few rares that i need in my storage.

i mean honestly what is there to do with money anyway once you have all the weapons you want and the armor you want?

Nothing wrong with being proud of my accomplishment in GW. I am sorry if I came off as a braggart. I didn't mean it that way. I was just pointing out that if you concentrate on farming it is possible to build wealth in GW. It is alot tougher now though as all I seem to do lately is spend rather than build up anymore.

I completely agree with you on the donations. I on occasion hand out some gold to people that are frustrated with never having any gold and sometimes when I am buying items or whatnot I offer more than the asking price simply because I know there are alot of people just scraping by and not enjoying the game cause there are a bunch of bastards like me that have all the flashy weapons and armors.

On that note I am not in the least bit sore over the inherent weapon mod update coming cause despite my collection losing alot of its value I know that it will make the game much better for those that don't have quite as much gold as I do. I applaud Anet for these much needed changes. If Anet would release the weapon mod update I will be ALOT more generous when handing out money. Infact I may even start doing some contests and such like you Akh.
